The Hepburn Library of Madrid, as part of its 100th anniversary celebration, announces an essay contest open to graduating seniors of Madrid Waddington Central School and those reporting to the district.
Essays will be based on the following quote from Maria Lorena Lehman, Author, Designer, Educator:
“The importance of (the public library) remains not because it solely revolves around physical books which may or may not fade away, but because it ultimately revolves around people and their ideas.”
Winners will receive scholarships in the amount of:
First place: $100.00
Second place: $75.00
Third place: $50.00
Essays must be no more than 600 words in length. The entry deadline is May 1, 2017. Please submit essays as .pdf files via email to Madlib@ncls.org. Enter “Essay contest” along with your full name in the subject line. Entrants agree to let the essays be published on the Hepburn Library of Madrid’s website and Facebook page.
