Summer Reading Programs




This year Summer reading in the Madrid area is out of this world!!

Join the Hepburn Library of Madrid for its newly renovated schedule of fun and interesting programs.

Earn prizes, play games, read and so much more!

Reading Club:

Pre-K kids, K-6th grade kids, 6-12th grade kids and adults can participate in our very own Reading Club.  Follow these easy steps to start earning prizes for reading this summer:

  • Come to the Library starting on July 9th and grab the  appropriate Reading Club book log. For our Pre-k kids, this includes challenges to read and do different things, for kids in K-6, this includes reading 10 books and logging the titles and authors. 6-12th grade kids read 5 books and be entered into a drawing for a gift certificate to Hometown Cafe. Adults, Play book bingo and be entered into win a gift card to Amazon!
  • Complete 5 activities on the Pre-k log, or read 10 books on the K-6 log and get a prize! (6-12 and adults will fill/play thier respective cards to be entered into drawings for prizes)
  • Keep reading to earn prizes
  • at the end of summer, our top readers will earn even bigger prizes.

Mon-Thurs K-6 Program:

This program runs Monday-Thursday starting July 16th through August 23rd at 10am. This open to all kids grades k-6 in the Madrid Waddington Community. You can drop in whenever, as no registration is necessary.

Themes to space, the earth, and more!  Children will read and listen to stories, play games, create crafts and more during this hour long program. We plan to make space rocks, delve into the layers of the earth, pretend to be astronauts and so much more! Veteran Summer Reading Program facilitator and Library staff member Laurel will be running this program. Children will also have the opportunity to check out books and participate in the Reading Club.


Summer Session of Pre-K Story Hour

Friday's at 11-Starting July 12th and going until August 23rd.


Join longtime staff member Kathy in songs, stories, crafts, games, snacks and more! Open to all pre-k aged children and their families who are in the Madrid-Waddington area.
