Madrid Come Together Project

madrid come together project #Madridcometogether

#Madridcometogether a community collaboration between the Hepburn Library of Madrid, the Madrid Dam Music Series and the Madrid Pride and Beautification Committee.

This is a community scavenger hunt. No rules, and anyone can participate. We ask that those who do participate, do so safely and while following all of the current health guidelines set forth. To participate, look for each weeks themed items while out doing your essential errands, see if your neighbors are participating, and look for local business to have stuff up too!

Internet during COVID-19

Internet right now is important to so many! We offer free wifi, this is accessible even though the library is closed-it reaches our parking lot!

Many other libraries are also removing barriers to thier wifi while they are closed due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

If you are looking for internet in  your home during the COVID-19 out break, or other locations that offer free wifi-check out the links below!

COVID-19 Update 3/17/2020

March 17, 2020

The Hepburn Library of Madrid Board of Trustees and Staff take high interest in protecting our staff and patrons- in particular the high-risk populations we serve and the high-risk populations who work and volunteer for us. Therefore, the library is cancelling all programs, events, community room bookings and outreach activities at this time as well as our regularly scheduled hours of operation. This closure is a direct order from the Town of Madrid and will be until further notice.

No more fines for overdue items

Beginning April 11th, 2019 the Hepburn Library of Madrid will join a handful of other St. Lawrence County Libraries that no longer charge fines for overdue materials. Why did the library decide to go fine free? It’s good for our community- we hope this will encourage prior users to come back to the library and to attract new users to experience our offerings. What this means for our community is that you will no longer receive a daily late fine on overdue items. You are still responsible for returning your items, once there are 5 overdue items on your account, privileges will be suspended. The library will still send you reminders about your items. If you have other overdue fines from other libraries in the North Country Library System, you are still responsible for paying these at the library where these fines accrued.  If you check out materials while visiting another library in the North Country Library System, you could still be charged fines based on that library’s fine policy (some have fines, some do not). Items 45 days or more overdue will be assumed lost and you will be billed for the replacement cost. Past replacement fees and processing charges for lost or damaged items still apply. As always, the library will still accept monetary donations. These donations provide services, critical programming and more. Thank you to our community.

Upcoming Projects

2019 improvements measuring tape

We hope 2019 is as much of an opportunity for our continued improvement as 2018 was!

This coming year we  hope to remodel our upstairs restroom facility, fix some lighting and apply for more grants! When it does come time to redo the bathroom, our patrons will need to head downstairs to the community room to use the facilities there. Keep looking for more updates!
